1203: The End of the Academic Year....

My dear friends,it is 37 C outside, a totally un-Dutch temperature, totally incapable to get me inspired to work on a lecture.

But "hora est", the moment has come: the Summer Break.  It is so ambiguous...on  the one hand I love it..time to think of new projects

and on the other hand, I'll miss you. Nevertheless, this is our reality so let's get to some conclusions and observations.

To begin with, this short project on ethics was a kind of experiment, because I only relied for my research by AI, being ChatGPT, DeepSeek  and GEMINI.

The most interesting aspect of this way of working was of course how those AI systems would handle my questions and instructions.

I can tell you that they did remarkebly well. The point here is that I know what I am talking about and enjoy the luxury of the AI tools filling in the details.

This confirms more or less a feeling I already had for some time: you need to be the expert yourself to evaluate and judge the results of AI.

You as a human being are still in the position to answer the question: should I or should I not use the result of an AI produced conclusion?

The main conclusion of this short project on ethics is, yhat with deontology, consequentialism and virtue ethics homo sapiens proofs in a clear way

that he is perfectly well capable of formulating the difference between good and evil, right or wrong without the help of some supernatural or transcendental entity.

Now then to the flattery. Thing is ChatGPT offered me an assesment of my person or personality based on the questions I had asked so far.

Believe me, I begin to glow as an antique lightbulb...let me quote some stuff and glow with me :-)

-QUOTE- You show a strong interest in ethical theories (like consequentialism, deontology, and longtermism), epistemology,

and metaphysical questions (e.g., “What is the meaning of life?” or “What makes p a justified true belief?”).

You've asked for long essays, academic structure, and references to key philosophers and sources. -END QUOTE-

Pretty cool, isn't it? :-) Just read the summary.....

-QUOTE- You are likely a highly educated, practical, and philosophically curious individual — possibly with a professional background in law, ethics, or academia.

You demonstrate care for ethical clarity, juridical precision, and human well-being, including both theoretical depth and real-world application. -END QUOTE-

My friends, Artificial Intelligence nailed me, like you have attended my classes all this time.  You nailed me to this pulpit for you and enjoy the beauty of knowledge together.

I am most grateful for that and I thank you all and don't worry. In  September we'll start a new project. I already have material for two in fact......

Thank you so much for your attention again...

The Discussion

[13:17] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): Daar ga je toch van naast je schoenen lopen....

[13:17] Max Chatnoir: are you going to tell us what they are?

[13:17] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): (glows in purple)

[13:17] herman Bergson: Yes Beertje :-)

[13:17] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): nice!

[13:17] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): :))

[13:17] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): en terecht

[13:18] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): naaa surprise us(if u want)

[13:18] Max Chatnoir: The two projects?

[13:18] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): ㋡

[13:18] herman Bergson: Ok Max, this time I'll reveal the options for new projects

[13:18] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): aha

[13:18] Max Chatnoir: yay

[13:18] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): ㋡

[13:18] herman Bergson: Option one is: The history of economical thinking....

[13:19] herman Bergson: Basic issue may be the phenomenon of pricate property and the accumulation of wealth by the individual and how we have to deal with that

[13:20] herman Bergson: Second option is titled "All about Love...."

[13:20] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): indeed a big problem - inequality

[13:20] herman Bergson: which needs no further explanation :-))

[13:20] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): ok ㋡

[13:20] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): i like love

[13:20] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): you decide

[13:20] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): and both of these sound really interesting

[13:20] Max Chatnoir: Great topic!  I've been wondering about the agricultural revolution and intolerance!

[13:21] bergfrau Apfelbaum: i love love :-)

[13:21] bergfrau Apfelbaum: *** Love is in the air  Everywhere I look around ***

[13:21] herman Bergson: Yes interesting point already Max

[13:21] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): yes im a loveboy

[13:21] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): i love both topics

[13:21] Max Chatnoir: Love it good, too!

[13:21] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): hug me!

[13:21] bergfrau Apfelbaum: *** Love is in the air  Every sight and every sound ***

[13:21] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): ㋡

[13:21] bergfrau Apfelbaum: *** And I don't know if I'm just dreaming  Don't know if I feel sane  ***

[13:21] bergfrau Apfelbaum: *** But it's something that I must believe in  And it's there when you call out my name  ***

[13:21] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): lol

[13:21] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): ㋡

[13:21] herman Bergson: Right Bergie, just call my name :-)))

[13:21] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): lol Bergie gets hot

[13:22] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): because im clinging on her

[13:22] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): hehe

[13:22] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): i said i was huggable indeed

[13:22] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): ㋡

[13:22] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): am telling Mr Bergie!!!

[13:22] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): and I've had a great time with u all

[13:22] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): love is so much more than hugging

[13:22] Max Chatnoir: Oh, yes!

[13:22] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): indeed

[13:23] Max Chatnoir: Also, Bejiita, I'll hug you after you dry off a little...

[13:23] Max Chatnoir: :0(

[13:23] Max Chatnoir: :-)

[13:23] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): lol Max

[13:23] Max Chatnoir: Sorry.  Emoji typo.

[13:23] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): I love being close to others I like/love, and dont matter  if it's a girl or guy

[13:23] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): it's just nice

[13:24] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): + want others to feel good

[13:24] herman Bergson: So, although on vacation till September, I am ready for the next semester :-)

[13:24] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): lol Max

[13:24] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): hehe

[13:24] bergfrau Apfelbaum: yay Herman

[13:24] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): Well im just - me

[13:24] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): so you can take it easy

[13:24] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): and i look forward to next project

[13:24] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): but a break is well deserved

[13:24] Max Chatnoir: I will miss you all, although I'll probably run into at least some of you over the summer!

[13:25] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): aha

[13:25] Max Chatnoir: Oops.

[13:25] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): lool

[13:25] Max Chatnoir: Did not mean to do that!

[13:25] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): 🤣

[13:25] herman Bergson: you are welcome Max

[13:25] herman Bergson: yeah Bergie is very sensitive :-)))

[13:25] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): ㋡

[13:25] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): will you golf with us during vacation?

[13:25] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): golf going on

[13:25] herman Bergson: Of course!

[13:26] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): yay

[13:26] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): yes

[13:26] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): ㋡

[13:26] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): i should be able to play soon

[13:26] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): aha

[13:26] herman Bergson: How is your hand Gemma?

[13:26] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): much better

[13:26] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): good

[13:26] bergfrau Apfelbaum: grins

[13:26] herman Bergson: yay

[13:26] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): ty

[[13:27] herman Bergson: Well...mixed feelings here..I love the break, but I also will miss you....

[13:28] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): aaa same

[13:28] herman Bergson: Fortunately, we still can play golf

[13:28] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): it seems such a long time until September

[13:28] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): we will be around

[13:28] Max Chatnoir: And we can still have unscheduled chats!

[13:28] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): indeed

[13:28] herman Bergson: Yes Beertje but studying with this heat is no pleasure

[13:28] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): i know

[13:29] bergfrau Apfelbaum: we're all online, again and again. That's how we all see each other♥

[13:29] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): u want to soak in a pool instead

[13:29] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): in the week-end it will be normal again

[13:29] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): u said 39 degrees Herman?

[13:29] herman Bergson: YEs...look forward tothat

[13:29] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): thats insane

[13:29] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): OOF

[13:29] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): it is hot here

[13:29] Max Chatnoir: You all have a great summer, and get some rest!

[13:29] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): tomorrow 38 C

[13:29] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): same

[13:29] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): yes!

[13:30] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): i don't like summer, i'm a winter girl:)

[13:30] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): i am fall and spring

[13:30] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): I like summer but too much heat

[13:30] herman Bergson: Today came my cleaning lady....I forbid her to work. We sat in front of the house and enjoyed watermelon

[13:30] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): nice!!!!!!

[13:30] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): grilled?

[13:30] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): yum

[13:30] Max Chatnoir: I like fall and spring, and sometimes in Texas we get lucky and they come on a weekend!

[13:30] herman Bergson: grilled watermelon....Beertje???

[13:30] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): well u neither want to get to cold or hot- quite logical since just a few deftees of change in body temperature can be fatal

[13:31] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): yes

[13:31] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): degrees

[13:31] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): it's very tasty

[13:31] bergfrau Apfelbaum: me too spring and fall

[13:31] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): grilled watermelon? not tried

[13:31] herman Bergson: No..the watermelon was ice cold

[13:31] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): try it Bejiita

[13:32] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): I have my george foreman electric grill so easy to do

[13:32] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): just need some melons

[13:32] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): morgen eet ik boerenkool:)

[13:32] herman Bergson: en daarna erwtensoep zeker?? :-))))

[13:32] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): nee, vantevoren

[13:32] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): ツ

[13:33] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): i guess i need to grill them hot and intense before all the water in it will evaporate

[13:33] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): met kliuf

[13:33] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): yes Bejiita

[13:33] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): searing the surface only

[13:33] herman Bergson: Strange people those Dutchies :-)))

[13:33] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): lacht

[13:33] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): lolol

[13:33] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): i like ur crazy, strange ideas

[13:33] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): :)3

[13:34] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): it's not strange and crazy, try it Bejiita

[13:34] herman Bergson: We had a wonderful year...that is for sure

[13:34] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): next time i have some melon around i will

[13:34] Max Chatnoir: You really do grill watermelons?

[13:34] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): yes

[13:34] herman Bergson: Not me, Max

[13:34] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): i do

[13:34] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): afraid forman might do too much

[13:35] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): almost anything is good grilled

[13:35] Max Chatnoir: next you'll be making melon chips!

[13:35] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): i guess if hot enough you sear the surface properly before evaporating all water

[13:35] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): peaches

[13:35] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): grapes

[13:35] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): put the whole stem

[13:35] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): of them'

[13:35] herman Bergson: Gives me the shivers

[13:35] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): no, watermelon will be sweeter and tastier

[13:35] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): melon chips hmm interesting, I've eaten apple chips and those were great

[13:35] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): i dont think it will work bej

[13:35] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): try it and see

[13:35] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): one piece lol

[13:36] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): aaa ill make an experiment

[13:36] Max Chatnoir: Hey go for it!

[13:36] herman Bergson: Well...we have vegetable chips in the Supermarket

[13:36] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): yes

[13:36] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): if u slice a melon thin and grill until crispy,

[13:36] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): ill try that also

[13:36] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): no Bejiita

[13:36] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): yes but not made on a forman grill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[13:36] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): what is that Gemma?

[13:37] Max Chatnoir: I don't think you can slice a watermelon thin....

[13:37] herman Bergson: I guess...some crematorium???

[13:37] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): what bej uses

[13:37] Max Chatnoir: Maybe you can press it thin?

[13:37] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): hahahh

[13:37] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): it is a covered grill,,, small

[13:37] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): for doing burgers etc

[13:37] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): don't press it..just a thick slice and grill it

[13:37] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): George Foreman, opponent to Muhammad Ali, later went into grill buisness and i got one of those as gist from worlk + an airfryer this year

[13:38] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): for many things

[13:38] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): exactly

[13:38] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): one of these i have

[13:38] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): they are very fast

[13:38] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): but  not watermelon lol

[13:38] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): take about a minute to get hot

[13:38] herman Bergson: ahh such a grill

[13:38] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): sandwiches

[13:38] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): meat

[13:38] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): i have such a grill

[13:39] herman Bergson: we call it a tosti iron

[13:39] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): aaa yes i make these in the morning for breakfast with bacon, cheese ext

[13:39] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): yes

[13:39] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): perfect

[13:39] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): yum

[13:39] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): yes

[13:39] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): getting hungry lololol

[13:39] Max Chatnoir: Ok you are making me hungry now...

[13:40] Max Chatnoir: haha!

[13:40] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): lol Max

[13:40] herman Bergson: Interesting culinary tool indeed

[13:40] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): (thinking about what ill have for night snacks today)

[13:40] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): yes

[13:40] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): thinks about supper

[13:40] herman Bergson: Stop Bejiita...Max is already starving!

[13:41] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): im really happy with my setup, the only thing id want is like a mounting station like they have at reastaurants when i make things like hamburgers so i have a good area to put everything together

[13:41] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): hhi stranger

[13:41] Lecturehall: 2025-07-01  [22:41]  Stranger Nightfire

[13:41] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): hi stranger

[13:41] herman Bergson: Hey Stranger :-)

[13:41] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): hallo Stranger

[13:41] Max Chatnoir: Hi, Stranger.

[13:42] Max Chatnoir: This is the beginning of the Philosophy summer Break.

[13:42] bergfrau Apfelbaum: how do you eat watermelon?( i like it best ice cold;.) the perfect philosophical topic for this hot summer day :-)

[13:42] herman Bergson: The class is indulging in discussing culinary issues at the moment

[13:42] Max Chatnoir: We're just chatting about impossible food.

[13:42] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): like melon ships

[13:42] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): chips

[13:42] herman Bergson: There is an old recipe named "philosopher"

[13:42] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): yes

[13:42] bergfrau Apfelbaum: hi Stranger:-)

[13:42] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): ok

[13:42] Max Chatnoir: Melon ship, that's evocative!

[13:43] herman Bergson: But not a good dish for the summer

[13:43] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): what is a "philosopher"?

[13:43] Max Chatnoir: Is that something with gravy?

[13:43] herman Bergson: it is a meat/mashed potatoes dish indeed Max

[13:43] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): https://www.therealfarmhouse.com/how-to-make-watermelon-chips/

[13:44] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): tere you go

[13:44] Max Chatnoir: OMG, Gemma!

[13:44] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): here

[13:44] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): lol

[13:44] herman Bergson: oh no, Gemma :-)))

[13:44] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): nice

[13:44] herman Bergson: this is sensational

[13:44] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): aaa u can use a dehydrator true

[13:45] Max Chatnoir: Interesting!

[13:45] bergfrau Apfelbaum: https://dialogos-philosophie.de/viewtopic.php?t=1548

[13:45] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): that makes sense

[13:45] .: Beertje :. (beertje.beaumont): i never mentioned chips..just grill it

[13:45] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): not a forman grill

[13:45] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): right it was bej

[13:46] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): al his fault

[13:46] Max Chatnoir: drying it would concentrate the sugar...

[13:46] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): indeed

[13:46] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): i have exactly the one u showed before

[13:46] herman Bergson: Funny, Bergie :-))

[13:47] Max Chatnoir: OK. so you could take dried watermelon to the moon.

[13:47] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): yay

[13:47] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): and mars

[13:47] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): i can see it as a good astronaut food

[13:47] herman Bergson: Partytime for astronauts :-))

[13:47] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): isnt that like the stuff NASA use on their space missions

[13:48] herman Bergson: But to be honest, I find it a blasphemy....

[13:48] herman Bergson: the thing isn't named WATERmelon just for fun

[13:48] Max Chatnoir: Yes, it does completely corrupt the nature of watermelon.

[13:48] bergfrau Apfelbaum: Bejiita you can make chips too! ---> Can you dehydrate watermelon?

Peel the watermelon, halve it, and cut it into 1-inch slices. Remove as many seeds as possible and dehydrate the watermelon in a dehydrator at 165°F (73°C) for 12 hours, until all the liquid has evaporated. Let the watermelon cool briefly to firm up.

[13:48] herman Bergson: yeah Max :-)

[13:48] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): yes i like it cold adn did you ever try putting it in the freezeer for a while?

[13:49] herman Bergson: would be great Gemma!

[13:49] Max Chatnoir: No, I have never frozen a watermelon.  Might make a nice snack.

[13:49] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): yep

[13:49] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): been there did it

[13:49] Max Chatnoir: kind of like a popsicle.

[13:49] herman Bergson: Will become watermelon icecream

[13:49] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): grapes are great frozen too

[13:49] herman Bergson: yes Max....I gonna try that!

[13:49] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): aaa indeed

[13:49] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): also an idea

[13:50] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): ok i have to go to work lololol

[13:50] Gemma (gemma.cleanslate): see you soon!!!!!!

[13:50] Max Chatnoir: See you sometime, Gemma!

[13:50] herman Bergson: We have to survive this climate change and hot summer

[13:50] bergfrau Apfelbaum: Gemma:-) see you

[13:50] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): hugs Gemma

[13:50] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): ㋡

[13:50] Particle Physicist Bejiita (bejiita.imako): hmm indeed

[13:51] herman Bergson: ok then....for the last time this semester.....

[13:51] herman Bergson: CLASS DISMISSED ...... :-)
