17a Ayn Rand (1905 - 1982)

Ayn Rand (1905 - 192)

Today our Philosophy Class enters a new aera. The area of 'being on TV'. After all these women fighting for education and respect, we all of a sudden have a woman philosopher on TV.

We, as The Philosophy class are not surprised....one day it would happen. Finally. We already have learnt to know a few women, like Mary Calkins and Susan Stebbing, who were women thinkers, who had a good education and made a difference.

About 1900 there must have been a change in education, even if Radcliffe and Girton College were women only institutions. There was an opporunity for women too.

And now....you dont need me anymore....we have TV, YouTube, .even old recordings online. But before we continue, I want to give all credits for this class to Gemma, who pointed me at what you now will see.

Take pencil and paper...you will hear a philosopher talking....but she isn't alone. I mean, her ideas arent new, only configured in a different way. So...stay alert and note the names of the philosophers from who she borrowed her ideas.

Ok..get ready.... next lecture we'll go into detail regarding her ideas. What you will see is so fascinating., unique ..and so lovely American. ^_^ But first you have to watch this...
